what is the difference between Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin B?
One question we are frequently asked is “Is there a difference between Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Vitamin B?” or “Do I need both HA and Vitamin B for hydration and moisture?”
Hyaluronic Acid is a sugar molecule and pulls water/moisture to it from either the deeper layers of the skin or the environment to hydrate the skin. A good HA should have multi molecular weights so it hydrated different layers of the epidermis.
Whereas, Vitamin B/B3/Niacinamide is anti inflammatory, prevents evaporation of moisture from the skin.
It’s important to think of B as barrier so if there is any irritation, sensitivities, dryness or breakouts it’s perfect to calm and soothe and support especially when adding in Vitamin A into home care.
Generally, B Serums have Hyaluronic Acid in them (like our Ultra B2 Serum) but not always, so if you would like both in your serum, be sure to ask your skin care specialist.
