Have a Self-Care Christmas – Giving Yourself the Perfect Gift

During the Christmas season, many women feel like it’s their responsibility to organise the festivities. They have to set the date and time for the events, cook all the meals, and make sure every child has the perfect gift. Not to mention, keep the whole family happy while they do it! But there’s often one person who gets forgotten. You. The person organising everything.

We all know it’s better to give than to receive. But it’s still important to receive, from time to time. You deserve to be happy too. So make sure this Christmas, you get a little something for yourself as well. Here’s a few ways you can give yourself the perfect gift and enjoy your Christmas.

Pamper Package

Treat yourself to a lovely package of relaxation. Whether that’s a facial, a massage, or a day of spa treatments, do something that will help you feel pampered and relaxed. You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Just pick one special thing that would make you feel better, and get it for yourself.

You could always buy yourself a pampering package for the coming year ahead. Medispa has several packages where you can prepay your next few appointments in one go and save on the overall cost. This is a great way for you to continue self-caring into the year ahead. Because if you’ve already paid for your next appointment, it will make it that much easier for you to go out and do some self-care.

Take a Break

The easiest way to self-care is to stop working so hard. Just rest! Spend some time recharging your energy levels and recovering your strength.

You don’t need an expensive vacation to do this either. Have a ‘stay-cation’, where you stay at home and do vacation things there. This means doing less housework, and relaxing instead. If you struggle to take a break, the best thing you can do is ‘work’ on something that actually relaxes you. You can try playing a game, reading a book, or watching a movie. If your mind is focused on something, it gives your body a chance to rest.

Turn Off Your Phone for a Day

We bet some of you are a little stressed out just imagining this! But don’t worry. You don’t have to take this literally. Just switch off! We use our phones constantly every day. Sometimes, if can feel like we’re a slave to our phones, just responding to whatever it tells us to do. So the best way to relax and calm your mind is to switch off from all the interruptions. Take life at your own, comfortable pace.

Focus on the things around you. Be present in your day.

Celebrate Your Christmas Traditions.

Make sure you enjoy Christmas. We can all get so distracted by the things we need to do. But sometimes we need to make room for our inner child, and celebrate the fun aspects of the holiday. Do the things that you can only do at Christmas time. Drink eggnog, eat rumballs. Then watching cheesy hallmark Christmas movies, sing carols, and go for a late night drive to look at Christmas lights. Whatever your tradition is, go and have fun with it. Don’t just do it for your kids or your family either. Do it for you.

Buy the Gift You’ve been Wanting for Months

If you’ve been considering buying something for months now, then maybe it’s time to just buy it. Maybe you haven’t bought it yet because it would make you feel guilty. Well don’t feel guilty anymore. It’s Christmas. That might be all the excuse you need to get something nice for yourself. We want to be clear: buying lots of things is not going to make you happy. Yet sometimes it’s ok to spend the money and get something that’ll make you happy. It can be good for your mental health and part of your self-care process. So if you spend all your time making other people happy, remember to make yourself happy too.

Indulge in Your Hobbies

Life can get very busy. We have lots of work and responsibilities. So we often neglect the hobbies we enjoy. Maybe it’s been a few months since you last went hiking, or sang along to your favourite song. This Christmas, set aside some time to do the things you enjoy. If there’s a book on your shelf that’s been there a while, get it out and start reading. Or if you’ve had a movie on your Netflix to-watch list, make some time to watch it. It’s important to make time for fun. Otherwise we just keep working and never enjoy the beauty of life. Indulge in your hobbies this season.

We hope this gives you some ideas on how to enjoy your holidays. We want to have a life filled with beauty and joy. From all of us here at North Coast Medispa, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
