ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

Anti-wrinkle injections are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles that repeatedly contract in the same location (such as your frown line).

The most common treatment areas include the Crow’s Feet, Forehead Lines and Smile Lines. Anti Wrinkle Injections can also treat excessive sweating, jaw clenching/grinding, chin dimples and neck bands.

ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTION FAQ

A medicated product made from a natural purified protein (“Botulinum Toxin”) is injected in to the selected muscles, interfering with neural transmission between the brain and the muscle. This means that when your brain is telling your face to frown or squint, the muscle can’t receive the message and won’t contract (preventing the formation of wrinkles).

The product affects only the specifically targeted muscles.

The required dose for the treatment is tailored according to the individual patient, the desired outcome and the mass of muscle being injected. The dosages required may change over time if the treatment is performed regularly.

Anti wrinkle injections are a very well tolerated treatment. The needles used for cosmetic injections have a super fine diameter, so they’re not very intrusive and far less painful than most other types of injections. Small ice packs are often used on the treatment area to disrupt pain and in some cases a numbing agent can be applied.

Before receiving any cosmetic injections, you must be assessed to determine if you’re medically suitable for treatment. It is important that you disclose any medication that you are taking, any health conditions affecting your muscles or nerves or if you are known to have any allergies.

To be suitable candidate for anti wrinkle injections, you will be at least 18 years old, in good overall health and have realistic expectations of the treatment.

You may not be suitable for treatment if you have any disease that affects your nerves or muscles, have a skin infection in the treatment area, are currently pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant.

Due to the lack of medical research done on the topic, it is best to err of the side of caution and not have anti wrinkle injections during pregnancy. The same is recommended while breastfeeding, as it is unclear if the product can make its way into the breast milk.

Initial effects are usually seen within 1-2 days but the full result of the treatment will generally not be seen until 10-14 days post-procedure. Results typically last 3 months.

Anti-wrinkle injections are not an exact science and results may vary between patients and treatments.

Immediately post-treatment, you can resume your normal daily activities however, as a general precaution, you should refrain from doing anything strenuous for one or two days. You should also avoid laser / IPL treatments, facials and facial massage for one to two weeks after the injections. This is to minimise the chance of the product moving to the surrounding muscles.

It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.

DERMAL FILLERS FAQ

Temporary soft tissue fillers (“dermal fillers”) are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the skin with powerful hydration and anti-ageing properties.

When injected skilfully just below the surface of the skin, dermal fillers instantly add volume to the targeted area and can be used to enhance, restore and shape facial features. The procedure is relatively quick with only minimal discomfort.

Dermal filler products are available in various viscosities to suit the indication being treated i.e. areas that require a more structural enhancement require a thicker, less malleable product while thinner fillers are used where softer features are required.

Dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections to achieve a harmonious rejuvenation of the face.

Dermal fillers are a well tolerated treatment. The needles used for cosmetic injections have a super fine diameter, so they’re not very intrusive and far less painful than most other types of injections.

The results of the dermal fillers are instantly noticeable, with the full effect occurring within 48 hours.

Results typically last between 6 and 12 months before the effects of the dermal filler gradually weaken. The appearance of your skin will revert to its natural state unless further treatments are administered.

There may be swelling and bruising at the injection site although there is generally no downtime post-treatment with most patients able to return to normal activities immediately. Mild pain, tenderness and swelling as well as bruising at the injection site may be present for up to 14 days.

It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.

If you have any concerns or questions before or after your injectables treatment, please contact the clinic.

fast dissolving injections faq

Fat Dissolving injections use a synthetic form of Deoxycholic acid, a bile acid naturally produced by your body, to help absorb fat. Once injected, the acid destroys fat cells beneath the chin area so it can’t store fat anymore.

Before the procedure, the area to be treated is first sterilised and then marked out with a small grid so that the dose required can be accurately calculated and precisely injected. A topical numbing agent or ice pack will then be applied to ease any pain or discomfort. A series of 20 to 50 injections are used under the chin. The acid then works gradually to destroy fat cells, which are metabolised by the body over the following weeks.

The number of treatment sessions necessary varies between individuals. Multiple treatments might be needed to reach optimal results. You can receive up to six Fat Dissolving Injection treatments, with at least one month between each session.

You will need an initial two treatments performed 4 – 6 weeks apart, with each session requiring two vials of product. This is the minimum needed to see results however in some cases (depending on your goals and the amount of fat to be dissolved) you may require up to 6 treatments.

The majority of patients achieve their desired result after 4 treatments. We will work with you to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the treatment and how many treatments are likely to be required.

Please note that with any cosmetic procedure, it is important to have realistic expectations. This is a non-surgical option which may not have the same overall result as liposuction and no guarantee can be made on the result.

Before receiving any cosmetic injections, you must be assessed to determine if you’re medically suitable for treatment. It is important that you disclose any medication that you are taking, any health concerns or if you are known to have any allergies.

To be suitable candidate for fat dissolving injections, you will be at least 18 years old, in good overall health and have realistic expectations of the treatment.

Treatment with deoxycholic acid cannot be performed if you have an active infection in the treatment area.

It is important to inform our team if you have had surgery to the face/jaw/chin, previous cosmetic injectables, bleeding problems or are taking blood thinning medications (eg aspirin, warfarin). This treatment cannot be performed in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The product used in our fat dissolving injections has been approved in Australia for improving the appearance of submental fat/fullness under the chin. It is not known yet whether it is safe to use this product in other areas of the body.

The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Swelling may persist for up to 4-6 weeks after the treatment while the acid is working to dissolve the fat.

Other risks include trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.

It is important to contact the clinic as soon as possible if you experience any adverse reaction after having a double chin treatment.

pdo threading

Matrix Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament. Matrix Mono Threads are inserted into the skin to achieve maximum collagen re-production. After entering the skin, the threads activate collagen synthesis for a gradual skin rejuvenation effect.

Matrix PDO Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing natural collagen production to take place treating neck sagginess, forehead lines, and facial wrinkles. The threads can also add volume to the cheeks. Over time the PDO will be fully absorbed by the body.

A consultation with one of our Registered Nurse is required prior to beginning to determine your requirements and suitability for PDO Threads.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA FAQ

The procedure begins by extracting a sample of the patient’s blood (using the same process as in a typical blood test) which is then spun in a centrifuge to create a concentrate of Platelet Rich Plasma.

The concentrated plasma solution is then injected under the skin at the targeted areas to stimulate the body in to improving the overall quality and health of the skin. We may also combine the injections with skin needling, depending on the condition of your skin and your goals.

The platelet-rich solution works to kickstart the body’s cellular processes, stimulating collagen production, skin cell turnover and invigorating the area with stem cells and growth factors.

The procedure takes about an hour and is well tolerated with typically no discomfort.

You may not be suitable for treatment if you have a skin infection in the treatment area, are currently pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant.

Results will subtly occur over a period of 8 weeks, depending on your overall health.

It is recommended to have an initial 2 – 4 initial treatments at 6 weekly intervals, followed with a single annual “maintenance” treatment for optimal results.

Downtime is minimal and side effects are usually limited to minor swelling, bruising and tenderness for up to 24 hours.

It is important to follow any after-care instructions given to you by your practitioner and contact the clinic as soon as possible if you are concerned about any side effects.

SCULPTRA FAQ

SCULPTRA ADDRESSES AN UNDERLYING CAUSE OF FACIAL AGEING, NOT JUST THE SYMPTOMS
Not All Anti-Aging Treatments Are the Same:

Collagen creams: Collagen creams do not fully penetrate to the dermis, so most topical treatments are effective as moisturisers that briefly improve the skin’s appearance.

Collagen Supplements: When ingested, the digestive system breaks down collagen proteins and their effectiveness remains inconclusive.

Anti Wrinkle Injections: Anti wrinkle temporarily weaken muscles to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. Results typically last a couple months.

As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalise collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.

As the Sculptra PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.

Sculptra may stimulate collagen growth which helps to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds over time.

SLOW AND STEADY STRENGTH
Sculptra is made with biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by a trained specialist.

The specialist injects treatment into the appropriate dermal plane where strands of collagen support your skin’s structure. Over time, Sculptra helps the body reproduce lost collagen.

The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months.

Sculptra should be iniected into the appropriate plane. Superficial injections may be associated with small bumps and larger lumps under the skin in the treated area. In a clinical study, a few subjects reported these bumps and lumps, but none of these events were reported as serious adverse events by the investigator.

In this clinical trial, the most commonly reported side effects after treatment were:
– Redness
– Swelling
– Tenderness
– Injection site pain
– Bruising
– Bleeding
– Itching and lumps

Sculptra is FDA approved in the U.S. and has been used worldwide since 1999.

Sculptra contains a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is a biocompatible, biodegradable substance that is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and commonly found in dissolvable stitches.

Though allergy testing is not required prior to treatment, you should not use Sculptra if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should also not use the product when you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area, or if you have a history or susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.

SKIN BOOSTERS FAQ

Each treatment involves a series of hydrating micro-injections of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a water-attracting substance found naturally in the body that maintains hydration in the skin.

The stabilised Hyaluronic Acid is a soft, gel-like substance that absorbs water (up to 1000 times it’s weight). This results in long-lasting, deep skin hydration to the treated areas, giving it improved firmness, elasticity and smoothness.

The improvement in skin quality is subtle and gradual. Over time, the there will be a noticeable return of elasticity of the skin and reduction in skin surface roughness. The skin will feel smoother, softer and have a wonderful, radiant appearance.

Skin boosters are a well tolerated treatment. The needles used for cosmetic injections have a super fine diameter, so they’re not very intrusive and far less painful than most other types of injections.

Small ice packs are often used on the treatment area to disrupt pain and in some cases a numbing agent can be applied.

Skin Booster injections are most suitable for mature or sun-damaged skin. They are ideal for those who want improved skin texture without the structural effects of dermal fillers.

The results of the skin booster injections are instantly noticeable, with the full effect occurring within 48 hours.

Results typically last between 6 – 9 months before the effects of the skin booster gradually weaken. Regular ongoing treatments will ensure your skin remains youthful-looking and healthy.

A typical treatment program with Skin Boosters is made up of three initial treatment sessions at 2 to 4 week intervals.

Immediately post-treatment, you can resume your normal daily activities however you will likely have some swelling and redness.

It is important to follow any post-treatment care instructions given to you by your injector.

SWEAT FREE INJECTIONS FAQ

Excessive sweating (or hyperhidrosis) is quite common – affecting up to 3% of the population – and can occur in the underarms, hands, feet and sometimes other areas.

North Coast Medispa offers an effective treatment of excessive sweating with injections of Botulinum Toxin (the same prescribed medication as used in anti-wrinkle injections).

The injections block the output of the sweat glands, and can improve the problem significantly.

Treatment is simple, with several small injections of the Botulinum Toxin being placed superficially into the skin at the sites where the sweating comes from. Most people tolerate the injections well however we can apply local anaesthetic cream prior to the injections to minimise the discomfort.

Sweat free injections are a very well tolerated treatment. The needles used for the treatment have a super fine diameter, so they’re not very intrusive and far less painful than most other types of injections. Initial effects are usually seen within 1-2 days but the full result of the treatment will generally not be seen until 10-14 days post-procedure. The effects generally last between 3 to 9 months, although there can be a lot of variation between individuals and treatments.

The procedure is able to be repeated 2 or 3 times a year if needed.
