This first-of-its-kind injectable treatment destroys fat cells under the chin. Forever.

The active ingredient used in Fat Dissolving Injections is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

What does a double chin treatment involve?

The area to be treated is first sterilised and then marked out with a small grid so that the dose required can be accurately calculated and precisely injected.

The treatment area will then be been numbed with ice or local anaesthetic and you will receive multiple small injections of the fat dissolving product under your chin. There may be a slight stinging or burning sensation during and immediately after the treatment – this can be managed with ice and simple pain relief medications.

The injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

How many treatments are required?

You will need an initial two treatments performed 4 – 6 weeks apart, with each session requiring two vials of product. This is the minimum needed to see results however in some cases (depending on your goals and the amount of fat to be dissolved) you may require up to 6 treatments.

The majority of patients achieve their desired result after 4 treatments. We will work with you to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the treatment and how many treatments are likely to be required.

Please note that with any cosmetic procedure, it is important to have realistic expectations. This is a non-surgical option which may not have the same overall result as liposuction and no guarantee can be made on the result.

Are there any risks or side effects?

The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Swelling may persist for up to 4-6 weeks after the treatment while the acid is working to dissolve the fat.

Other risks include trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.

It is important to contact the clinic as soon as possible if you experience any of these symptoms after having a double chin treatment.
